Mother of Keane Mulready-Woods tells court of 'cruelty and inhumanity' of his murder

At the Special Criminal Court in Dublin on January 19th, Elizabeth Mulready, mother of Keane Mulready-Woods, delivered a victim impact statement describing the "cruelty and inhumanity" of her son's murder. The 17-year-old was killed in Rathmullan Park, Drogheda, in January 2020, and his dismembered remains were scattered across two counties. Ms Mulready spoke of the lifelong trauma inflicted on her family and the denial of dignity afforded to her son after his death. The sentencing hearing concerned Stephen Carberry, aged 48, who pleaded guilty to transporting and disposing of the teenager's body parts while on bail for drug offences. Detective evidence established that Carberry collected two sports bags containing the remains from the murder location and dumped one at Moatview in North Dublin. DNA evidence linked him to the bag. The chief suspect for the murder itself, Robbie Lawlor, was shot dead in Belfast in April 2020. The court adjourned sentencing to March 9th.
