A worker in Carrickmacross has secured a statutory redundancy payment of approximately €3,000 following the unexpected closure of Huawen Foundation Ltd, a company involved in promoting Irish residency visas to international property investors. The Workplace Relations Commission upheld the claim by the employee at an adjudication hearing in April 2022. The company ceased operations without making provision for redundancies. This marks the second successful claim against the firm; a former director of international investment previously obtained a Payment of Wages award exceeding €12,000 after the company failed to pay him for four months whilst submitting incorrect payslips to Revenue. Huawen Foundation, which operated under the Department of Justice's Irish Immigrant Investor Programme, changed its registered office to the Nuremore Hotel & Country Club in Carrickmacross in February 2022. The company is wholly owned by UK businessman Kai Dai.
